Student No.5 – Parkour

My name is Christopher Gary Lodge I am born and raised in Basingstoke, UK.

From the age of 1 my Mum tells me I was always climbing on everything I could manage to climb up on, toilet seats, window sills, furniture and out in the garden on my climbing frame. Playing in the park at the age of two I could hold my own weight and swing like a monkey hand over hand across the rings. People looked on amazed at such a small child being so agile and strong. From the age of two my parents took me to The Basingstoke Gymnastics Club and again I was surprising the coaches with my ability and strength. Every sport thrown at me I excelled in. I was cycling at 2 and half and found a passion in anything fast, exciting and that required skill. I went on to play football at 4 years old, skate boarding, inline skating, ice hockey, tennis, basketball and all that good stuff, in general using my body in many ways to move and cover ground. I still hold a massive passion for bikes, rocking out on my downhill bike, spending time in natures wonders tearing it down any steep hill I can find.

From the age of 18 as a trained Life Guard at a local pool I worked with a couple of the original guys who started 3Run Cole Armitage and Shaun Andrews. They showed me a few tricks and from there my interest grew in Free running and Parkour. I researched on the Internet on Free running and Parkour using YouTube and discovered David Belle,Sebastian Foucan and Oleg Vorslav Dvinsk Clan. My interest grew and I started training on my own practising moves, street training in my urban environment. I started to train in the local spots of basingstoke where I met fellow freerunners and now best friends Danny Hutchins and Piotrek Stefanski. We would occasionally meet to just practice and learn all different sorts of movement, always talking of '3RUN' and how amazing they were. We would go to the active life gym were the 3RUN team trained and all became good friends, always being inspired by what they were doing! As the years passed I beame closer to the team and showed them my own unique and powerful parkour style. I wanted deep in my heart to become a team member but never thought too much about it. Shortly after I was offered a professional project with the 3RUN team working out in Spain, My dream had come true to do what i love doing with like minded people, I quit my job as a builder and have never looked back! - thats true freedom.

From then until now I have focused everything into my training and become a core team member of 3RUN having come much closer with the whole team and forever expanding my abilities both mental and physical.

Hey Chris, I read your story and I am glad to know that you are a professional free runner. I am also a fellow free runner and i have been into it since i was in 6th grade. I am now in 8th grade and i recently got into skateboarding. I have a strong love for free running and parkour as I do with skateboarding. Being a professional at either of these would be my dream job. I just wanted you to know that I will be cheering for you on your journey and I hope you succeed in every way possible. Two of my friends found out i like parkour and they teased me about it, and it bothered me. But that didn't make me give up. I wish you success and fame in your life.
